Beverages

Delve into interesting stories, latest changes, and interesting insights on a variety of beverage categories including alcohol, carbonated drinks, coffee, milk-based beverages, herbal infusions, fruit juices, and water intake necessities.

Caffeinated (carbonated and non-carbonated)

Caffeine is a drug that stimulates the brain and nervous system.  Carbonation is the addition of carbon dioxide to a beverage, giving it a sparkling aesthetic and preventing spoilage. Both carbonation and caffeine are commonly found in beverage products. Popular caffeinated drinks that are not carbonated are coffee and tea. Popular carbonated drinks include sodas and many energy drinks. Successful companies that craft both of these types of beverages are Starbucks and Coca-Cola.

Herbal Teas

Herbal beverages or teas can also be called “herbal infusion” or “botanical infusion” to avoid confusion with true teas. These drinks are made with dried flowers or fruits, seeds, roots, or herbs that are steeped or boiled. A couple herbal teas that are popular in the market are Chamomile tea and Iced tea. Yogi is a popular company that produces Herbal teas.

Juices

Juices are made from the extraction or pressing of the natural liquid in fruits and vegetables but can also be flavored with concentrate or other biological food sources. Common juices are apple juice or orange juice, with many other flavors available. A large producer of juices is Ocean Spray which specializes in cranberries.

Dairy Products

Dairy beverages are products which usually include some variety of milk or yogurt base blended with other flavorings. Some products are milkshakes, smoothies, or hot chocolate. Popular companies that sell these products are Nestle and Lactalis.

Water

Bottled water has different types, such as spring, sparkling, and distilled. It usually is a personal preference on which type is the best, but all drinking water is not only safe and healthy but a necessity. Arrowhead is a company that specializes in spring water.

Alcohol

The alcohol that is found in beer, wine, and spirits is called ethanol (ethyl alcohol), which is made when yeast ferments the sugars in grains, fruits, and vegetables. An example of this would be sugar in grapes for wine, sugar in grains for beer, and sugar in potatoes for vodka. Two examples of companies that produce alcohol are Firestone Walker and Hennessy.
